Communities In Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania Hires Two New Berks Site Coordinators

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

Communities in Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania (CISEasternPA) programming is successful largely thanks to site coordinators who work inside schools and develop close relationships with administrators, staff, and students alike. As the nonprofit continues to expand into Berks County, there has been an increased demand for more in-school site coordinators. CISEasternPA has hired two new site coordinators in response: Rachel Thomas and Courtney Stunz.

Rachel Thomas is the first-ever site coordinator at Kutztown Area High School. She is new to CISEasternPA and began her role on November 21, 2022. With a bachelor’s degree in education from Susquehanna University, much of her previous experience relates to addiction prevention and social and emotional learning. She spent time working in Kutztown and Wilson School Districts, and most recently in Tower Health Addiction Medicine as a Grant Outreach Educator, where she worked with the Pennsylvania Medication Assisted Treatment Grant. There, Rachel also educated medical professionals on treatment for opioid addiction.

Courtney Stunz is the site coordinator at Fleetwood Area High School; just like Rachel, she is the first site coordinator in this building. Courtney has two years of previous experience at CISEasternPA as a site coordinator at Wilson High School. She was recently featured in a video from ASR Media Productions about her experience as a site coordinator, where she says, “I have seen so much growth in my students. My agenda here at the school is really about empowering the students and providing them resources to be successful.”

“Rachel and Courtney’s work in Berks County will have long-lasting impacts on the students and families they work with,” says Director of Operations Migdalia Garcia. “In their daily work, these two are able to give students a shoulder to lean on for support and motivation. Trusting relationships create success stories, which is what CIS of Eastern PA is all about. We are so grateful to have their expertise in Berks County schools.”
