"Supporting Our Staff: A Look Inside CIS of Eastern PA’s HR Department"

At Communities In Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania (CIS of Eastern PA), our mission is clear: to surround students with a community of support.

Behind that mission is a dedicated team that makes it all possible. At the heart of this team is our human resources department, led by Senior Director of Human Resources Tammy Patterson, whose unique perspective and personal experience directly connect with CIS of Eastern PA’s values.

Tammy knows what it’s like to be on the frontlines. She joined CIS in 2012 as part of a Master of Social Work internship and later spent five years as a site coordinator, building relationships with students and families while helping them navigate barriers to success. 

Her transition into the role of senior director of HR allowed her to bring this invaluable field experience to her HR work, ensuring that the staff at CIS of Eastern PA is supported and equipped to do their best work. 

“My role at CIS is just one piece of a larger team effort,” said Patterson. “Together, we make a meaningful impact on the community by supporting students and their families.”

Tammy’s story reflects the deep, personal connection that CIS of Eastern PA fosters, not just in our students but also within our team. She works tirelessly to recruit, support and empower the professionals who, in turn, help students overcome barriers and reach their full potential.
