Meet Michael Zile, the treasurer of the CIS of Eastern PA board of directors. Michael’s life has always been education-focused; his father worked at Northampton Community College, and his mother worked at Moravian University. His parents’ steadfast support greatly impacted his academic success, so he made it his goal to provide the same support to students in his community.

Michael learned about CIS of Eastern PA from President and CEO Tim Mulligan when they served on the Upside Allentown education committee together. He felt that the mission of CIS aligned perfectly with his personal service goals, so he joined the board of directors in January 2018.

“I’ve been a volleyball coach for more than 20 years, and I enjoy working with students and believe in the importance of education,” said Michael.  “Getting involved with CIS of Eastern PA is a way for me to give back and to help provide students with the kind of support they need to graduate.”

As the treasurer and member of the finance committee, Michael and his co-directors provide oversight on the organization’s financial management by monitoring monthly operations and assisting with budgeting. All of these duties help to position CIS of Eastern PA to expand its reach to more students in the Lehigh Valley and Berks County.

Michael has witnessed and contributed to CIS of Eastern PA’s considerable growth as a six-year board of directors member. He is particularly proud of being involved in the organization’s expansion into Berks County because it means more support, education, and graduating seniors.

In his free time, Michael enjoys coaching volleyball, watching Philly sports, and spending time with his family. His oldest daughter is a volleyball player, and his youngest is a competitive cheerleader. He and his wife enjoy taking road trips with the family; they have visited over half of the states in the U.S., along with numerous tourist attractions and MLB parks.
